We’re seeking an experienced and hands-on Café Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our extremely busy café. This role is ideal for someone who excels in a fast-paced environment, enjoys hospitality, and knows how to bring out the best in their team. As Café Manager, you will take ownership of the overall performance and smooth running of the café, including: Overseeing all daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, to ensure smooth, efficient and high-quality service Leading, supervising and supporting both front-of-house and kitchen teams to deliver a positive and consistent guest experience Recruiting, training, mentoring and performance-managing team members, providing regular feedback and development opportunities Managing staff rosters and scheduling to maintain adequate coverage and operational efficiency Maintaining excellent customer service standards, including promptly and professionally addressing customer inquiries and concerns Collaborating with the kitchen team to design and update menus and seasonal offerings based on customer feedback and trends, and planning/coordinating special events Ensuring high food quality through correct storage, handling and presentation Managing stock levels, inventory and supplier relationships to keep the café well supplied and cost-effective Handling daily financial transactions and working with the owners/management on budgeting, cost control, forecasting and improving overall profitability Monitoring and continuously improving operational systems, processes and service delivery Ensuring full compliance with health & safety, food safety and hygiene standards Enforcing company policies and upholding service standards to maintain a safe, professional and welcoming café environment Upholding and growing the café’s reputation as one of Hamilton’s most memorable hospitality destinations Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be paid between $25 to $35 per hour. Requirements - Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience, or a Level 5 hospitality/management qualification Proven experience managing and developing a team, and leading by example on the floor The ability to perform under pressure and stay calm and organised during busy service periods Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills Good financial awareness, including experience with budgeting, cost control, and rostering A genuine commitment to delivering outstanding customer service Solid understanding of food safety, health & safety, and hospitality best practices Flexibility, reliability, and a positive attitude that supports a great team culture A valid Duty Manager’s Certificate (essential) What We Offer A dynamic, supportive and professional working environment The chance to be part of one of Hamilton’s most iconic hospitality destinations Competitive remuneration based on skills and experience Opportunities for growth and progression within the business Staff meals and generous staff discounts
