Job Description

The Pacific Area Welfare and Self-Reliance Department is seeking an Area Education Manager to support its educational initiatives across the Pacific Area. This is a full-time permanent position which reports directly to the Area Welfare and Self-Reliance Manager and will be based at the Pacific Area Office in Auckland.

The Area Education Manager plays a key role in advancing the Pacific Area education vision by developing strategic educational strategies, solutions, and building strong partnerships. Responsibilities include leading the Career Initiative and managing relationships internally with Church Education programs, Seminaries and Institutes, BYU-Pathway, and BYU–Hawaii and externally with Government and ministry departments of Education, universities, tertiary providers, trade schools.

Responsibilities

  1. Internal: Training and providing recommendations to Church senior leadership including Area Presidency, Area Seventies, Mission, Stake/District and auxiliaries. Support the Area WSRM's to advance all education. Promote and raise educational awareness and participation.
  2. Education Funding Programs: Overseeing the implementation of education funding programs (PEF, P13, RMS), Learning Centres, Careers Pacific, Mums Preschools, and other educational programs.
  3. Resource development and Relationships: Work with government organisations, NGOs, educational institutions and communities to develop and deliver resources, and whilst building and maintaining the relationships.
  4. Educational Programs: Develop and manage educational initiatives, learning centres, PathwayConnect, EnglishConnect, and BYU-Hawaii. Developing MOU's with education providers and promoting education success.
  5. Careers Initiative: Work with 15 – 35-year-olds on their career journey, especially RM's to support them obtaining Education with Purpose and Jobs with meaning. To be a support to church leaders and church membership. It will necessitate interacting with government departments, education facilities, and employment opportunities.
  6. Supervising the Senior Education Administrator and the Area Support Team.
Qualifications

  1. Master's degree (or equivalent) in education, business, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of six years of proven experience in mid-to-upper-level business management.
  3. Strong understanding of education systems in the Pacific Area, particularly vocational and professional education.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  5. Strong cross-cultural awareness and ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in English and the host country's language, both verbally and in writing.
  6. Demonstrated leadership, spiritual maturity, and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  7. The ability to develop/build relationships and networks with church and community leaders, government departments, NGOs and educational institutions.
  8. A strong understanding of the Church organization, doctrines and principles, and Church leadership experience.
  9. Strong computer, analytical and creative skills, and strong public speaking experience. Essential and timely reporting to leaders and department.
  10. Maintain temple worthiness standard.
