Passionate about grounds keeping and maintaining stunning green spaces? Join our dedicated team at Hamilton Gardens, one of New Zealand's most beloved horticultural destinations

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Groundsperson to join our team on a permanent basis working full time Tuesday to Saturday.

As part of our Hamilton Gardens Operations team, you'll assist in maintaining our lawns and water features plus ensuring the grounds and facilities are presented to a high standard for our local and international visitors. A key area will be the wonderful new precinct and visitor arrival area for Hamilton Gardens.

What does a day in this job look like?
  • Maintain and enhance the beauty of Hamilton Gardens' extensive gardens and landscapes.
  • Completing a routine maintenance schedule across the Gardens to specifications.
  • Setting up traffic management to ensure safety of crews working near our roading network.
  • Check for any damages on the Garden grounds and reporting where necessary.
  • Interacting with visitors, providing exceptional customer service, and sharing your knowledge about the space.

  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with the team and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • STMS qualifications an advantage.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work a weekend roster is required.
  • NZ/Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
  • A valid and full NZ Driver's Licence.
  • A sense of humour and a positive attitude, especially when dealing with mundane tasks.

The starting rate for this role is $27.80 per hour, negotiable depending on the level of skills and experience you can bring to the team.
