He angitūtanga: The opportunity

The Tūpuna Maunga Authority is a statutory authority established under the Ngā Mana Whenua o Tāmaki Makaurau Collective Redress Act to co-govern fourteen Tūpuna Maunga (ancestral mountains) across Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland. The Authority is made up of equal representation from Mana Whenua iwi/hapū of Tāmaki Makaurau and Auckland Council, along with non-voting Crown representation. As a Field Officer, you will play a vital role in the Tūpuna Maunga Operational Team, ensuring services and assets across the Maunga are well-maintained and engaging with manuhiri (visitors), contractors, and key stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:
  1. Conducting audits of contracts and assets to ensure high standards are met.
  2. Supporting restoration projects, capital works, emergency response, and events.
  3. Acting as the "eyes and ears" of the Maunga, monitoring, reporting, and responding to maintenance issues.
  4. Helping to protect, restore, and enhance the Maunga, supporting the aspirations of Mana Whenua.

  3. Is motivated, well-organized, and results-driven.
  4. Has a deep appreciation for kaupapa Māori and is confident working in a Te Ao Māori setting.
  5. Wants to lead and influence positive change with and for Māori.
