**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

The Tūpuna Maunga o Tāmaki Makaurau Authority (Maunga Authority) is the statutory authority established under the Ngā Mana Whenua o Tāmaki Makaurau Collective Redress Act to co-govern the Tūpuna Maunga.

The Maunga Authority is comprised of equal representatives from Ngā Mana Whenua o Tāmaki Makaurau and Auckland Council, together with Crown (non-voting) representation.
The Kaiwhakahaere Tupuna Maunga leads the delivery of operations on the Tūpuna Maunga. This includes managing a large full facility maintenance contract, the care and uptake of archaeological features and wāhi tapū, the development and maintenance of Mara Kai (traditional gardens) and an ambitious Restoration Programme which will see the return of indigenous native flora and fauna. You will lead a dedicated team to deliver a programme of work in line with the Tūpuna Maunga Integrated Management Plan and associated strategies and policies.

The Kaiwhakahaere Tūpuna Maunga sits within the Te Waka Tairanga Whenua Lead Team. Te Waka Tairanga Whenua manages the end-to-end delivery of work for a number of co-governance and co-management arrangements that Auckland Council are a party.
This is an opportunity to be involved in an exciting work programme in a co-governance environment in preparation for a world heritage bid.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

You are experienced operational leader with a passion for looking after sites of cultural significance. You are a natural collaborator and can work with different teams, communities and stakeholders to deliver great outcomes for the Maunga. You have a strong understanding of Te Ao Māori with the ability to engage naturally with Mana Whenua. You have strong leadership skills and can enable our team to deliver high quality work. You are comfortable working with a governance board made up of elected members and Mana Whenua leaders.

You have a background in operational delivery especially in an open space management or looking after culturally significant reserves. You can plan, organise, and deliver work programmes to meet strategic outcomes. You have strong written and verbal communications skills and are confident in public speaking. You can communicate the values of the Tūpuna Maunga to a diverse audience including the community, whanau, hapū and iwi, contractors, elected members and staff.
