**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
The Tūpuna Maunga o Tāmaki Makaurau Authority (Maunga Authority) is the statutory authority established under the Ngā Mana Whenua o Tāmaki Makaurau Collective Redress Act to co-govern the Tūpuna Maunga/ancestral mountains. The Tūpuna Maunga Authority is comprised of equal representation from Ngā Mana Whenua o Tāmaki Makaurau and Auckland Council.
It's an exciting time as we partner with the Department of Conservation, through the Jobs for Nature scheme, to create opportunities for those who wish to work and develop themselves in nature-based employment.
We’re looking for a Kaihautū Tiaki Koiora / Conservation Advisor - Jobs for Nature to support the delivery of conservation outcomes on the 14 Tūpuna Maunga.
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
Strategic thinking, a natural collaborator and a passion for Te Taiao (the environment) will be at the heart of what you do. You’ll hold a qualification in ecology, biodiversity, biosecurity, or a related discipline and/or equivalent work experience in public engagement. A strong understanding of Te Ao Māori, Rongoa Māori, and competent use of Te Reo Māori is highly desirable.
The role will have you focused on projects aligned with protecting the remaining taonga or indigenous species including threatened plant and animal species already present on the Maunga. With a background of on-field knowledge, you’ll have experience in monitoring and delivering projects at a high quality.
We will value your engagement skills and your ability to work with various stakeholder groups including community groups and contractors and facilitate their participation in Tupuna Maunga programmes and activities.
You will have an advantage if you have previously worked on sites of cultural significance delivering conservation programmes. You are a positive team member and thrive in a high-performance environment.
**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer**
This is an opportunity to be involved in an exciting and fast-paced work programme where you will be given the opportunity to grow and learn about conservation in the context of the Tūpuna Maunga.
This role works in a close knit, high performing team and you will work alongside supportive colleagues all striving for the same goal. That is, to restore the mauri of the Tūpuna Maunga and to ensure that there are opportunities for people to connect with these taonga and gain understanding of how important they are to the landscape of Tāmaki Makaurau.
**Applications close: Sunday 14th September 2024
