What you will be doing


The purpose of this position is to contribute to the success of Tower by delivering world class capability and excellence across our motor assessing for Tower in NZ and the Pacific.


Reporting to the Head of Assessing, Investigations and Supply Chain you will develop and lead the Motor Assessing team to great customer and technical service through close oversight of the operational controls and risks for the Assessors, repairers and technology.


Responsible for Tower's motor assessing services you will ensure we are efficient and comply to repair standards of more than 30,000 p.a.

with technical repair methods that ensure the highest quality and mitigate costs, as we significantly grow our organisation.


You will need to be continuously challenging and improving customer promotion of our partnerships, our processes, and our technologies to exceed KPI's and SLA's.

You can also expect to be across the following:

  • Lead and oversee the Motor Assessing function, driving and executing strategic initiatives, plans and continuous improvements.
  • Attract, lead, and build world class talent within the business; inspire people to perform at a higher level by leading by example, translate strategies into operational plans, manage performance, lift overall capability, and increase overall engagement.
  • Effectively manage risk within appetite taking into consideration role relevant elements, including data quality, operational losses, incident management, compliance within policies and delegated authorities
  • Industry liaison for Motor Industry including repairers, suppliers, services and industry bodies
  • Leverage strong negotiation of Tower's scale with innovative journeys through partners for the highest industry service and quality at the lowest cost.
  • Ownership of claims partnerships relationships and performance management of their agreements
  • Ensure your teams and partners are ready to scale up during event response.
  • Understand IFSO and complex claims settlements; what a customer must prove when making a claim, understanding the technical breakdown of Tower policies and of all the ways claims can fall outside the scope of policy cover

What you'll need

You are an accomplished and inspiring leader with excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to cooperate and collaborate with other senior leaders across the business. Additionally, you will bring your excellent relationship management and communication skills to collaborate with and influence internal and external stakeholders and partners.

To be successful in this role, you will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Proven leadership capability to inspire and lead a high achieving team to deliver results.
  • Experience in bringing together a new function, leading cultural change, and unifying teams.
  • 3+ years' experience at a leadership level in leading a Claims Assessing, Supply Chain or Motor trade business.
  • 3+ years in any claims value chain function where policy interpretation, technical claims experience, IFSO and complaint management experience was required.
  • Demonstrated experience to operate with resilience within a change environment and with ambiguity.
