Auckland Council's Waste Solutions department has an opportunity for
a Casual Customer Services Representative within the Refuse Transfer Station team.


Reporting to the Weigh Bridge Team Leader you will assist with the smooth running and daily operation of the Weighbridge at the Refuse Transfer Station by providing support services, which include reception administration, financial transaction duties and bringing lovely customer service experiences as you will be the face of the site.

This is an essential service, and we are open Monday-Friday 8am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am to 4pm. Some weekend hours will be required on a weekly basis. To be discussed with the Hiring Manager during the interview.

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

  • Receive, and direct all visitors and customers
  • Assess and weigh loads; receive and receipt payments; input weights, etc. and collate documentation for reporting purposes
  • Provide support to Operations Manager when the Team Leader is not available. On call may be required when standing in for the Team Leader
  • Relay information between contractors, visitors, customers, and council staff with regards to daytoday operational matters including the use of RT and Intercom communication systems

This role requires experience in similar customer service-related roles, with a sound understanding of working with customers in a front facing fashion.


We will be looking for specific experience with:

  • Customer Service experience in face to face roles
  • Good time management skills with ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to work to pace
  • Be open to support and be flexible to cover Leave/Sick leave Mon to Sunday 7 days Operations
  • Must have reliable transport
  • Restricted or Full NZ License
