Emerge Aotearoa is a social services organisation providing a range of services to whānau, including health and disability, youth and transitional housing.

About the opportunity


Working as a Registered Health Professional in a prison setting, your role will focus on supporting people in the prison by providing mental health assessment, brief intervention and assistance/advice with referrals to other agencies.

You will work closely with the corrections staff providing expertise and knowledge to them in the workplace.

In order to be considered for this role, it is essential that you meet the following requirements:

  • Registered with a Professional Body covered by HPCA 2003 Act
  • RN, OT, Clinical Psychologist/Psychologist or Registered Social Worker
  • Hold a current APC
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to undertake a comprehensive mental health assessment and provide appropriate brief interventions i.e. talking therapies
  • Mental Health experience working with individuals presenting with a variety of mental health needs
  • Have a 'can do' attitude and a personality to match
  • Resilience, flexibility and a sense of humour
