Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Crisis Assessment and Home Treatment (CAHT) provides mental health assessment for individuals who present in mental health crisis and support the individual to access the appropriate care pathway.
These pathways include referral back to primary services, short term crisis team care, home treatment, admission to community based alternative acute care options or inpatient services.
CAHT liaise with a wide range of stakeholders internal and external to Waikato Hospital including Police, primary services, NGOs and other Hospitals.

Mōu | About you
Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- You will be an experienced mental health clinician with excellent clinical knowledge and skills in assessing client needs, assessing / minimising / managing risk, providing care and advocating for service users experiencing mental health difficulties to achieve their optimal mental wellbeing and recovery.
- You will need to be able to work under pressure and in a range of settings and have a high standard of communication.
- Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act would be an asset, as would previous experience in the Duly Authorised Officer (DAO) role.
- Applicants must have registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and hold a current annual practicing certificate.
- Have a current full clean driver's license.
