TECHNICAL PRODUCT OWNER (Perm/ Contract - Anywhere in New Zealand)

About the Technical Product Owner Role

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of technology experience to enable an understanding of the software stack and the nature of the software industry.
  • Past experience as a software developer or solutions architect is advantageous.
  • 5 or more years of proven experience as a successful product owner/ manager within an agile product development context, related to Enterprise Software Application Development/ SaaS & IaaS.
  • High level of experience in; establishing product vision and strategy, influencing and facilitating decisionmaking.
  • Seniorlevel experience in providing and driving strategic product vision, translating enduser requirements into technical specifications, and mapping client technical & nontechnical requirements to product purpose.
  • Seniorlevel experience in; developing, scoping, and defining specifications for product features as epics and user stories
  • Prioritise product features and own the product backlog.
  • Leading product release planning, setting delivery expectations, and mitigating release/ sprint goals risk.

Technical Product Owner Responsibilities:

  • Building consensus and collaborating with key technology and business stakeholders to establish the product vision and strategy.
  • Ensuring existing and future initiatives are suited to the platform.
  • Guide product teams toward successfully delivering the product vision through ongoing stakeholder engagement, orderly planning, and strong leadership.
  • Mapping and translating the client's technical and nontechnical requirements related to functionality product purpose and features to be delivered.
  • Providing vision and direction to the product teams and stakeholders, translating enduser requirements into technical specifications.
  • Implementing Agile philosophy, practices, methods, and culture at an enterprise scale.
  • Developing, scoping, and defining appropriately detailed specifications for the product features as epics and user stories on the product backlog so they are clearly understood by the development teams.
  • Making decisions based on tradeoff analysis to stay on track toward business deliverable commitments.
  • Defining acceptance criteria. Enabling the development teams to have clarity of what is required to design, build, test, and deliver.
  • Owning the backlog and writing the Epics and Stories including the acceptance criteria for our teams.
  • Demonstrating business value and the opportunities of particular feature/s.
  • Mitigating impediments to the completion of Release/Sprint Goals.
  • Working with the SECTION6 DevOps team to; plan, design, build, and deliver missioncritical software that meets the client's mission objectives.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the client platform being the primary contact for platformrelated queries.
  • Ensuring the technical consistency of the product's solution.
  • Concisely articulating, conveying, and translating complex technology into relatable and creative language to enable an engaging storytelling approach to Strategic Product Vision & Business Value (Product/ Feature Functionality & Purpose).
