He angitūtanga | About the role

Our Team Lead, Regional Capital Programme is a new role within our Operations Planning team and your strong people and programme management skills will be crucial to ensure that we deliver the capital projects for the Hauraki-Waikato-Taranaki region.

The Department has more than 72,000 recreational, historic and infrastructure assets - everything from huts and buildings, signage, tracks and walkways, bridges and structures to campgrounds and toilets.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team to further develop the regional capital work programme and undertake capacity planning and project management designed to deliver effective management or upgrade of these assets.

As Team Lead, Regional Capital Programme you will lead a team to plan, deliver and report on capital projects and will re-establish a sustainable capital programme delivery model for the region.

This is a full time, fixed-term role for 24 months.

This role is also accountable for:

  • establishing appropriate programme tracking criteria metrics and reporting to ensure programme and project success.
- providing project management services for complex projects including engaging and managing consultants, obtaining consents, and tendering, and managing construction contracts.
- managing the regional capital programme budget, monitoring the expenditure and costs against benefits as the projects progress.
- developing your team both individually and collectively by assigning work and leading monthly staff reviews and participating in performance reviews of staff.
- identifying critical issues and risks, and ensuring they are effectively managed.

As part of this role you will also have the ability to deliver some of your own projects, with the role being approximately 40% Team Lead and 60% project management.

The current team is made up of two permanent and two casual team members.
