Manager, Strategy Risk and Assurance

The Electoral Commission has an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader for our Strategy, Risk and Assurance team.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Executive, Strategy, Governance and Development, you will be a key part of forming a 'strategic hub' for the Commission bringing together our future direction, risk and performance functions.

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience leading a team of experts in developing strategies and strategic plans.

You will be proactive, a master at weaving the many parts of an operation into a cohesive direction and be at your best when collaborating with others and working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will have the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and build a high performing team of experts, aligned to a common purpose.

What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana

  • Overseeing the development of strategic direction and documents
  • Accountable for establishing the Commission's Strategy, Risk and Assurance function within the SGD group
  • Performance reporting to the Minister.
  • Leading the development of the Commission's Risk and assurance programme
  • Establishing mechanisms to review the effectiveness of the Commission's investments, strategies, and interventions
  • Develop an understanding, and recognise and act upon, the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong customer service, project management, and quality control skills
  • Resource planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Experience in establishing and documenting repeatable processes and roadmaps for future reference and use
