As the Principal Advisor Risk and Assurance, you will provide high-level strategic support and expertise to ensure the Risk and Assurance function for Whaikaha has robust assurance mechanisms in place.

You will work closely with the Manager Risk, Planning and Assurance to develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across our activities.

You will educate and build capability across Whaikaha, ensuring managers and staff understand what risk management and security practices are in our organization through provision of sound risk advice, guidance, facilitating risk workshops and providing training where necessary.

About You:

You will have experience providing technical leadership in risk management, operational and business improvement, internal controls and governance matters within a similar environment.

You have experience providing workshops and assurance reporting to senior leaders, committee members and stakeholders.
You will have strong knowledge and understanding of assurance and risk management frameworks, methodologies and techniques.
This will be paired with knowledge of risk management software tools.

Your excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills will ensure you can establish rapport, build and maintain relationships at all levels.

You will have an understanding of the Machinery of government within New Zealand.

To undertake this role successfully, you will be a disabled person or be able to establish credibility and trust with the disability community, as well as having empathy and an understanding of the unique and diverse experiences of disabled people.

We are expecting to place this role around $132,889 however the salary offer will be based on the skills and experience that the preferred candidate brings to the role.
