You will be responsible for managing a team of nine Financial Advisors (Management Accountants) based in Wellington.

Your role will be to support the team while they provide budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, along with trusted financial management advice to portfolio owners and cost centre managers.


A typical day could include:

  • Determining the team's priorities and managing workflows to ensure the service delivery offering is being met;
  • Coordination with other Finance teams in particular Business Partners and Performance Reporting to ensure the integrity of financial information;
  • Effectively managing the financial advisory team to ensure a centre of excellence is maintained; and
  • Training, coaching and mentoring Finance staff through performance management to ensure highquality service to the service delivery key stakeholders.

You will bring excellent interpersonal skills to adapt your communication skills to the relevant audience and engage effectively with senior stakeholders.

You will be able to plan ahead, anticipate requirements and manage workflow to meet deadlines and operational priorities. You will be a people leader with the passion to develop and support your team.

Additionally, you will also provide insight and work alongside senior finance managers on the financial management of portfolios within NZDF.


You will also have:

  • 5+ years practical working experience in an accounting role in a mid to large organisation;
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of management accounting and financial management principles and practices;
  • Worked in collaborative team environments where you have been relied upon to provide insight and knowledge to key stakeholders including senior managers;
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines to support the needs of your team and wider Finance;
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills;
  • Proven financial problemsolving and decisionmaking skills; and
  • The ability to mentor, develop and inspire others.


It is highly preferable that you are a qualified Chartered Accountant, as you will support members of the team as they work towards achieving their CA.
