Mō tēnei tūrangi mahi | About this role
We need an experienced social media and digital specialist to join our busy and dynamic team.

As one of three Senior Digital Advisors within the team, this role is for the social media and video lead.

With support from two Digital Advisors, you will be responsible for the delivery and continuous improvement of social media, paid and organic digital campaigns and all external video products.

You will also bring your strengths and experience across other digital platforms to support improvement across all of our digital channels and external communications.

You will be responsible for scanning social media and sharing insights about our audiences' needs, aspirations and values.

You will also report back on insights gained from analytics and comments, and synthesise these with other digital channel insights to build a connected view of our audiences.

We'll use these insights to measure our progress, and work out how we can make things better.
We need to be digitally inclusive, bring te ao Māori into our work, and keep people's information safe.

And if you can write digital content in te reo Māori, you will help take our social media to the next level.

You will be a real team player, to create a joined up experience across our digital channels, that helps build our brand.

You will be keen to share your skills and inspiration to support others in the team. This might include working with them on web, video, analytics and customer research.

Our mission in the Digital & Insights team is to deliver accessible, audience-led content to inform New Zealanders about our work programs, help stakeholders engage with the Ministry on environmental policy and ensure that those who need to can access implementation guidelines and policies.

To achieve this mission, we manage the Ministry's digital platforms, including our public-facing websites, the intranet, social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter), the Ministry's online consultation tool Citizen Space, and our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool Salesforce.

  • Commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori and able to integrate te reo in line with the Ministry's guidelines
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including plain English
  • Excellent technical skills to administer digital systems, and learn new software
  • Excellent customer service to all our internal clients
  • Experience working with external agencies and suppliers to deliver high quality digital and video products
  • Experience making recommendations and influencing on issues relating to digital channels
  • Experience with user research and testing
  • A knowledge of brand and how to effectively utilise guidelines in creating digital content
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, initiative, versatility and the ability to work both cooperatively and with mínimal supervision
  • Strategic thinking, being able to see the big picture and collaborate with team members on how to get there
  • Positive cando attitude, helping to enable a diverse and inclusive team culture

Essential:

  • Excellent technical knowledge of social media channels for organisations including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Experience running paid (Meta and Google Ads) and organic social media campaigns for organisations
  • Digital design skills using the Adobe suite
  • Experience in writing, editing and repurposing content specifically for social media channels
  • Experience evaluating social media metrics to improve performance of channels and campaigns
  • Experience creating accessible content for social media

Desirable:

  • Experience using Sprout Social for scheduling, reporting and community monitoring
  • Experience using Trello for social media content planning
  • Experience using project/workflow mapping tools
  • Ability to edit and write digital content in te reo Māori
  • Experience in creating and editing video
  • Experience with digital branding
  • Experience with customer relationship management tools
  • Experience with web tools
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $101,802 to $124,424 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
