About The Role:
New Cultivar Fruit Performance Lead
This is a brand new role at Zespri, and a senior member of the New Cultivar Commercialisation team.
The successful trialling and commercialisation of new kiwifruit cultivars is a key pillar of Zespri's long-term growth, and its ability to continue to deliver to consumers the world's leading portfolio of kiwifruit 12-months of the year.
This role is pivotal in understanding and optimising the supply chain performance of new cultivars by understanding and optimising fruit performance in pre-commercial trials from which the outcomes inform robust commercialisation decisions.
You will work closely with the New Cultivar Commercialisation Manager and New Cultivar Commercialisation Lead and other key stakeholders across the industry in set up, coordination and execution of trials.
In the event of commercialisation, you will play a vital part in the transition of knowledge and understanding of fruit performance of a new cultivar from the precommercial trial environment to the commercial environment.
You may also be delegated to lead and drive the cross functional collaboration of new cultivar trials in New Zealand and international growing regions.
Accountabilities:
- Lead precommercial fruit performance trials and support crossfunctional business/project requirements.
- Develop and share expert knowledge of fruit performance, from maturity monitoring to performance through the supply chain including in market performance.
- Develop systems and processes for understanding and reporting fruit performance
- Drive accountability, improvements and effectiveness in data collection.
- Effective participation in the trial assessment process.
- Set up, coordination, execution and leading trials as delegated by the New Cultivar Commercialisation Manager.
- Identify key stakeholders, establishing and maintaining strong working relationships.
- Contribute to industry communications on trial and outcomes and guidance of fruit management.
Qualifications & Experience:
- University degree in Science/Supply Chain or Business preferred.
- Extensive technical industry experience in supply chain and/or trial environment.
- Expert knowledge of kiwifruit supply chain performance.
- Experience in working across teams and business units and with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and influence people and manage resource to deliver outcomes.
- Broad knowledge and experience within the horticultural export sector.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Willingness to work flexibly to lead or contribute to trials across time zones and the ability to travel.
