  • Take this opportunity to be the medicine information pharmacist for Waikato District, this fulltime role allowing for a focus on the provision and development of this service.
  • Use your clinical knowledge, pharmacy experience and research skills to support health professionals with the safe use of medicines and patient care.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Research, answer and document medicine information queries from a range of health professionals such as doctors, nurses and pharmacists.
  • Build on and develop the medicine information service.
  • Support and train other pharmacists.
  • Develop relationships with other medicine information pharmacists in New Zealand and liaise with other medicine information centres regarding MI developments and resources.
  • There may also be an opportunity to be involved with other medicine management support services such as medicine guidelines and medication safety related work.

  • Pharmacy Services at Waikato Hospital provides services to the hospital and to six smaller rural hospitals and care units across the Waikato region.

The pharmacy service is divided into five services:

Clinical Services, Dispensary and Supply, Oncology, Haematology and Compounding Service, Quality and Safe Use of Medicines (QSUM) and our onsite community pharmacy service (Pharmacy on Meade).


  • You will be a member of the QSUM team, but as part of the wider pharmacy team you will also interact and work with pharmacy staff in the other teams.

Mōu | About you

  • Skills and experience you'll need to be considered for the role:
  • A NZ registered pharmacist.
  • At least 5 years previous experience in a hospital pharmacy or at least 3 years if coupled with relevant other pharmacy experience.
  • Previous medicine information training and experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, writing and organisational skills.
  • Confidence interacting with a range of health professionals.
  • A postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy is desirable.
  • Experience or interest in the use of information technology is desirable.
