If you are an enthusiastic and dedicated pharmacist able to work independently but who will participate as part of the wider clinical pharmacy team, then this role will suit you. The pharmacist will be encouraged to work closely with Thames and other rural hospital staff as part of the multidisciplinary team approach.

Although the role is to provide inpatient service to ward patients you will also have an opportunity to be involved in committees that relate to medicine usage and support in and around the rural Waikato region area with close communication with community pharmacies in the region. The role allows involvement into in-house programs such as pulmonary rehabilitation to support patients with COPD as well as the potential to provide support through education or advice to community based groups. This role has the potential to grow and provide wider support to other rural Te Whatu Ora - Health NZ - Waikato hospitals.

The position will be based at Thames Hospital, a 54 bed secondary care hospital around 1.5 hours from the base Waikato Hospital. Thames, only 1.5 hours’ drive from the main centres of Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga, is the gateway to the Coromandel Peninsula, well known for its beaches and hills covered with sub-tropical rainforest. Thames has excellent schools, pre-schools, and a friendly community atmosphere.
