This is an exciting opportunity to join the New Zealand Defence College based in Burnham.
NZDF is one of the largest employers delivering training and education across a variety of trades. No two days are the same for an Adult Learning Tutor.

The main responsibilities of this role are:

  • Develop and deliver one-on-one and group learning tuition in workplace literacy, numeracy and communication skills;
  • Develop and deliver highquality instruction in study skills, exam strategies, academic writing and referencing;
  • Deliver lessons to NZDF personnel on Defence Force writing;
  • Provide support and advice to NZDF instructors to improve instructional practice; and
  • Provide advice on education pathways.

The key skills we are looking for include:

  • Subject matter expertise to develop and deliver adult literacy and numeracy training;
  • Sound knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design practices;
  • Sound knowledge of the New Zealand tertiary education system;
  • Strong time management and organisational skills;
  • Highly effective communication skills;
  • Flexibility, adaptability and a sense of humour; and
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in adult education.

Low level Security Clearance
- most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
- is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
