The Logistics Tower works collaboratively with the domain owner, Defence Logistics Command (DLC) and NZDF single services, to design, deliver and manage products that enable the NZDF's logistics function.

The Tower is responsible for sustaining current state technology and delivering and evolving the NZDF's future state enterprise logistics capability.

As a Product Manager, you will have overarching responsibility for all products within the Logistics tower to ensure they support the delivery of the NZDF's vision and strategy.

The Product Manager's responsibilities embrace both strategic and operational activities through defining the technology vision and roadmaps for the products, prioritising and de-conflicting organisational requirements in collaboration with relevant digital product teams and business owners, and removing roadblocks to product delivery.

Ideally you will have knowledge of or exposure to a combination of the following:

  • Clearly understand high level strategic goal setting and how to clearly document these, using business language, in collaboration with the identified business owners;
  • Convert high level strategic goals into a technology roadmap;
  • Understanding how technology will support overall delivery of the strategy, including being able to articulate this in business language;
  • Understanding integration of new functionality into existing complex environments and landscapes;
  • Have exposure to Application Decommissioning and Consolidation, including gathering buyin from complex business areas;
  • A broad based cloud and on premise software environment experience, including experience with SAP Logistics modules or other large ERP systems; and
  • A collaborative interpersonal styles, including clear experience in managing difficult customers and customer expectations.

Additionally you'll have experience in, or knowledge of:

  • Presentation skills;
  • Identifying opportunities for business process improvement;
  • Capacity management;
  • IT change management;
  • Commercial management;
  • Strong team leadership and development skills;
  • Understanding of the portfolio and programme business planning processes and how this relates to roadmap development and delivery; and
  • Understanding of ICT change approaches, including collaborating with the business to optimise training, communications and change activities.
