Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi - About the Role


This is an exciting opportunity to join our team right at the beginning of a new era for nursing education.

The major focus of this role is working in clinical practice (primarily in mental health) as a Clinical Lecturer with students in the Bachelor of Nursing, New Zealand Diploma in Enrolled Nursing and Competence Assessment Programmes.

There are opportunities to work in simulation and / or theory course and the hours of work are usually flexible and worked across the academic year.

The successful applicant will work with a team of staff who are experienced nurse educators.

Most clinical lecturers are assigned to a clinical area/s where they will work with students across the different programmes and at different levels.

This role requires a nurse who is passionate about clinical practice and has an excellent reputation as a professional.

This role may suit an experienced educator or someone new to nursing education who is seeking a change in the direction of their career.

Experience in mental health nursing is preferred. This role is flexible and can be worked around other employment obligations and family commitments.

  • A minimum of three years full time mental health nursing experience as a registered nurse.
  • Clinical and educational qualifications and skills that support teaching of general nursing.
  • A broad range of clinical practice and skills.
  • Vision, innovation and a commitment to facilitating own and others' learning.
  • Capable of supporting students to achieve their learning outcomes.
  • Time management skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently administer, organise and coordinate activities and meet deadlines.
  • Engagement with assessment and feedback processes.
  • Digital literacy including competence using a computer (including Microsoft office products)
  • Effective communication with a diverse range of others, at all levels within and outside the organisation
