Our Northern Transport team is currently seeking an experienced Design Technician that will provide civil/transportation drafting and design solutions for our internal and external clients.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting and design in AutoCAD with mínimal guidance, calculations to justify those designs, preparation of design drawings and quantities for civil and transport related projects and associated facilities.
  • Liaison with service authorities
  • Assist with the prepare technical reports on projects
  • Keeping abreast of client and authority standards.

General:

  • Detailing (and design as and when required) of drawings in AutoCAD using office drafting standards
  • Design engineering tasks using 12D or MX, Excel, Word, or other similar design packages
  • Work in accordance to the GHD design and drafting standards
  • Design of transport, land development, water and sewer reticulation to NZ Transport Agency, Council and other client standards
  • Bill of quantities/cost estimates of project to office and project standards
  • Ensuring all designs are checked as per GHD's Quality systems and procedures before submitting to clients
  • Organising and checking survey data received and merging into associated design packages
  • Coordination of design work with other disciplines in GHD
  • Importing/exporting data between software packages in different file formats
  • Supplying set out information to the surveyor/contractor for the construction of projects
  • Engineering calculations
  • Write simple customisation for CAD
  • Scanning, digitizing and calibration of plans and mapping


Knowledge
  • Keep knowledge and competencies current, guide staff and contribute to GHD Global Knowledge Base


Quality Assurance
  • Preparation of high quality reports, correspondence and other deliverables.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or other relevant qualification
  • At least 5 years experience in a consulting or similar environment
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Sound working knowledge and use of AutoCAD
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including; Excel and Word
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent people skills.
