About the role
This is a unique part-time (24 hours per week), fixed-term role until the end of February 2025, to cover maternity leave. In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the New Zealand - Maluku Access to Renewable Energy Support (NZMATES) programme, which aims to increase electricity access through renewable energy in Maluku Province, Eastern Indonesia.
The Programme Lead will work closely with the in-country team in Indonesia to deliver the final months of this technical assistance and capacity building programme. The successful candidate will form part of the NZMATES Programme Management team, providing support and oversight in budget management, donor relationships, strategic planning of renewable energy projects, quality control, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), reporting and stakeholder engagement.
This role is New Zealand-based but some travel to Indonesia will be required.
Skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in international development, renewable energy or related field
- Experience in international development projects and multi-cultural stakeholder engagement
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of Indonesian language strongly desired
- Experience with solar, storage and island micro-grids strongly desired
About the programme
The New Zealand - Maluku Access to Renewable Energy Support (NZMATES) programme aims to accelerate renewable energy development to improve access to energy in Maluku province. The six-year program is funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and is implemented by Infratec in partnership with Mercy Corps Indonesia. The current phase of the programme is due to end in February 2025.
Most of the NZMATES team is based in Ambon, Maluku, Eastern Indonesia and provides support to Indonesian Government partners with renewable energy projects. This includes assistance with project identification and appraisal, technical and social assessments, finance matching, project design and implementation to strengthen long-term sustainability, and building local public and private sector capacity.
