The Chief District Court Judge's Chambers (Te Whare o Ngā Kaihautū Waka o Te Kōti-ā-Rohe o Aotearoa) is seeking a Judicial Publications Officer to join our Communications and Publishing team.

This important work ensures judgments are accessible to the media, legal profession and general public.

The role includes:

  • The selection and preparation for publication of Criminal, Civil, Family Court and Youth Court judgments
  • Writing judgment summaries
  • Responding to information requests about judgments
  • Contributing ideas and solutions on new initiatives and projects
He pūkenga tou/Skills and experience

  • A legal qualification is a requirement for this position
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with your colleagues and with the judiciary
  • Good understanding of legal principles, including statutory prohibitions on publications and the ability to quickly grasp the legislative requirements around judgment publication
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and sound judgement
  • The ability to pick up new concepts and working processes
  • Experience/knowledge in content creation and web publishing would be an advantage

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The remuneration band for this role is $70,518 to $97,908. Appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
