We are a transport and logistics provider specializing in the delivery of groceries. As contractors for Woolworths, one of New Zealand's largest supermarkets, we pride ourselves on ensuring timely and efficient delivery of grocery orders. We own and operate a fleet of vehicles, providing exceptional service to our clients. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transport Manager to join our team and oversee the daily operations of our transport division.

Position Overview: The Transport Manager will be responsible for managing the daily operations of our transport fleet, ensuring the timely and efficient deliveries. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, capable of optimizing logistics operations, managing staff, and maintaining high standards of service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Management:
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of the company's fleet of vehicles.
  • Ensure all vehicles comply with legal regulations and company policies.
  • Schedule and monitor vehicle inspections and servicing.
  • Operations Management:
  • Coordinate daily logistics operations, including route planning, dispatch, and delivery schedules.
  • Optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Monitor and manage fuel consumption and other operational expenses.
  • Staff Management:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise drivers and other transport staff.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Customer Service:
  • Maintain strong relationships with Woolworths and other key stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve any delivery issues or customer complaints promptly.
  • Implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and service quality.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transport regulations and safety standards.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare and present regular reports on transport operations, performance metrics, and KPIs.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and manage the transport budget, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • On-Time Delivery Rate:
  • Measure the percentage of deliveries completed on time.
  • Target: 98% on-time delivery rate.
  • Fleet Utilization:
  • Monitor the effective utilization of the vehicle fleet.
  • Target: 85% fleet utilization rate.
  • Driver Performance:
  • Evaluate driver performance based on punctuality, safety records, and customer feedback.
  • Target: 95% positive driver performance rating.
  • Operational Efficiency:
  • Track operational costs, including fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, and route optimization.
  • Target: 10% reduction in operational costs annually.
  • Customer Satisfaction:
  • Assess customer satisfaction through feedback and surveys.
  • Target: 90% customer satisfaction rating.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations and safety standards.
  • Target: Zero compliance violations and workplace accidents.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Commerce, or a related field OR a minimum of 3 years work experience, working as a Transport Manager or a similar role.
  • Excellent leadership and staff management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Job Location – Wellington Region

Job Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

Salary/Wages - $31.00 per hour.

Minimum hours per week - 30

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $31.00 per hour
