Working with corporate business customers and investors, our Corporate Trustee Services (CTS) division provide independent and prudential supervision and custodial services to a wide range of financial arrangements.

About the role:


Reporting to the GM of Corporate Trustee Services, our newly created, Head of Business Development and Custodial Services, plays a key role in designing, developing, and leading our growth strategy within CTS while maintaining excellent service delivery for our custodial services clients.


You will be responsible for engaging and upskilling a team of 3 direct and 15 indirect reports, ensuring that a market-leading level of service is delivered to Public Trust clients.

This role will see you create and lead the development and execution of business development frameworks. This role will also facilitate the transformation of our custodial services business to deliver a high-performing, scalable business.

As Head of Business Development and Custodial Services, you will ensure the continued success and profitability of CTS are realised, while keeping people at the heart of everything we do, by:

  • Building strategic relationships with key providers and market players.
  • Designing and executing an endtoend business development strategy and framework targeting profitable growth.
  • Liaising with a range of business partners, including investment administrators, brokers, depositories, and trading banks to ensure coordination with other service providers and to maintain an aligned, efficient and costeffective service delivery supply chain.
  • Developing and reviewing policies, processes, and procedures, to ensure they are optimised, scalable and fit for purpose who; meet regulatory requirements.
  • Managing client file profitability, and the developments of client revenue and cost attribution models. Utilising the resources of the wider business in particular CTS Operations, to drive operational improvements that deliver better risk and/or customer outcomes.

About you:


Your financial services background provides you with strong technical knowledge of the industry and practices, and with it your ability to anticipate and plan for regulatory change.

With a high level of strategic agility and commercial acumen your experience in increasing revenue through identifying new opportunities with both existing and future clients, will be essential.


This role will see you work with a range of key stakeholders and clients, where your strong communication and relationship skills will see you influencing effectively inside and outside of Public Trust.


  • 5+ years' experience leading a business to deliver profitable growth through a dedicated business development strategy and framework.
  • 5+ years' experience within a senior financial services based leadership position (in particular corporate banking and/or corporate trustee services),. Having led people through change and transformation would be advantageous.
  • Experience in the New Zealand regulatory environment specifically around the Financial Markets Conduct Act and associated regulations.
  • A positive, growth mindset, with a high level of EQ, and effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Previous experience in engaging with external regulatory stakeholders.
