We have an exciting opportunity for a Pou Āwhina/Executive Assistant to join the Critical Projects and Governance Puni.

You will provide support to the Hautū, Kaupapa Hiranga me Mana Whakahaere/Deputy Secretary, Critical Projects and Governance, however, in periods when the Executive Officer to the Secretary for Māori Development is absent, you will re-align and re-prioritise your work in order to provide dedicated executive support to the Secretary for Māori Development.

The four core areas of focus are:

  • to provide effective secretarial and administrative support to the Deputy Secretary, Critical Projects and Governance,
- in the absence of the Executive Officer to the Secretary for Māori Development, provide executive support to the Secretary for Māori Development,
- to provide timely and accurate administrative advice to the Puni Leadership team as necessary to facilitate the forward momentum of the Puni Work Programmes, and
- to assist the Puni Leadership Team to establish best practice administrative processes in the operating model of the Puni.

Ko wai koe | About you

  • A high level of experience working in administrative and secretarial support roles.
  • Welldeveloped communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A high degree of flexibility, demonstrated selfmotivation, the ability to set objectives and establish priorities, organise work and resources to ensure priorities and objectives are met on time.
  • A complete understanding of the importance of confidentiality and integrity.
  • A high level of keyboard skills and a high level of proficiency with Microsoft packages especially outlook, word, excel, and power point.
  • Awareness of the importance of professional presentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and as a member of a team.
  • Comfort in working in a Tikanga / kaupapa Māori environment.
  • A degree of fluency in Te Reo Māori is desirable.
  • An understanding of the accounting cycle and the role that accurate and timely financial processing plays in this.
