About the role:

The energy industry is one driven heavily by regulations and compliance. We need to consistently ensure we remain proactive and at the forefront to respond to any changes appropriately.

Our Financial Control function are key to this response, ensuring our payments, transaction processing, financial accounting and tax obligations are met.

The team are now on the lookout for a fresh face to join the Hamilton based team, on a fixed term contract, to support across various financial control activities, including the preparation of the Group's direct and indirect tax returns, settlements activity and other accounting related tasks.


This role is suited to an accounting and finance up-and-comer, someone proactive and who on any day can wear many hats, while providing a great in-depth opportunity to learn about all things energy from the inside.


Key accountabilities:

The role will cover a broad range of accounting and tax activities within the business, including:

  • Undertake settlements activity for energy sales and purchases, and derivative financial instruments including month end settlement tasks.
  • Accounting for Kupe investment
  • Prepare indirect tax returns e.g. GST and FBT.
  • Prepare month end accounting entries and relevant reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts.
  • Support the team on preparation of income tax returns.

About you:

  • Recent tertiary qualification in business, with an accounting major (preferred).
  • Work experience in a customercentric environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills.
  • Keen eye for detail with a process improvement nature.
