We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to partner with the business and actively manage and maintain integrity of all financial aspects, from renewable energy project creation through to completion, to payments and to invoicing. You will be a trusted advisor and partner with Project Managers and delivery teams to ensure commercial outcomes are achieved while driving process and system improvements to ensure delivery of accurate and timely financial results.

About the Role

This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Key areas of focus will be to:

  • Support Project Managers in commercial aspects of contract management and project delivery
  • Execute and complete month-end processes and generate insightful reports
  • Ensure financial integrity through reconciliations
  • Assist in budget preparation and forecasting
  • Support the transactional areas of the business (AP & AR) in delivering their day-to-day responsibilities
  • Fixed assets accounting (tangible & intangible) including additions, disposals and depreciation
  • Work on projects with the CFO and other Accountants to improve the financial performance of the Group
  • Review and allocate costs to specific projects and ensure accurate project accounting, including correct treatment of revenue recognition
  • Drive and enhance system integrity through enhancements and process documentation
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with financial regulations
  • Utilise technology to streamline financial processes while driving use of data analytical tools for financial analysis and reporting

Skills & Experience

This is a busy hands-on role within a small finance team and to succeed in this role, you will enjoy dealing with people across the business, be resilient, along with:

  • Have a relevant accounting qualification and NZICA membership, or equivalent, and a minimum of 5 years accounting experience in a commercial, construction or contracting business environment
  • Proven financial management experience
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, MYOB Advanced would be an advantage
  • Proven ability to build relationships and engage with stakeholders in the business
  • Strong attention to detail, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Hold self and others accountable for required work output and standards
  • Analyse data/information quickly and without error
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of financial management principles
