Opportunity


We are seeking a suitably experienced Process Safety Engineer to be part of our Process Safety Team at our Kinleith Mill (a Upper Tier Major Hazard Facility) championing process safety and optimizing processes to ensure a secure working environment.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Analyse safety incidents and nearmisses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety concerns within manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to optimize processes, integrating safety measures into design and operation to minimize risks and hazards.
  • The scoping and development of process safety improvement projects
  • Reviewing and auditing of the Safety Management System to ensure it remains up to date and meets the requirements of the site Safety Case
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in safety practices, leveraging data and feedback to enhance safety performance.

Oji Fibre Solutions:

(OjiFS) is the largest integrated pulp, paper and fibre-based packaging manufacturer in New Zealand. Our manufacturing operations promote the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources, with all OjiFS sites proudly FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody Certified. In producing pulp and paper, Kinleith Mill also manufactures a range of chemicals including hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite (bleach) and Turpentine. We have an extensive team of people, who work together to produce quality products from these renewable natural and low carbon resources. We are proud to be powering the circular bioeconomy.

The successful applicant will have the following attributes:

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering
  • Chemical, Process or similar
  • Proven experience in safety engineering or process safety within industrial or manufacturing environments. Sound analytical skills, problem solving skills and factbased decisionmaking capability.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and process hazard analysis Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to implement practical and effective safety solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
