Judicial Support Advisor - Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011

Te āhuatunga a te tūranga/About the Role
The Judicial Support Advisor's duties include, but are not limited to:


  • File maintenance
  • as a keeper of the High Court record, you will ensure files are kept to the required standards to ensure smooth facilitation of justice services

Event management - organisation and support of hearings that can be large in scale and may be away from a court building. You need to be confident with IT and able to manage competing demands from stakeholders


The role is based in the Wellington High Court, but there may be occasions where travel across the country will be required on an as-needed basis.


He pūkenga tou/Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to be:

  • Detail orientated and observant
  • Court has many different processes and case information needs to be accurate
  • Have excellent communication skills, knowledge of Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori desirable
  • Selfaware our customers are unique and diverse, and you will be confident working, both individually and as a team, across a range of situations
  • Able to multitask some of our processes are repetitive, but you'll be able to manage conflicting priorities and move from one task to another quickly as the situation dictates
  • Willing to learn & seek out information legislation and processes in the Court are always changing and you will need to be able to adapt and take onboard feedback and disseminate and train staff on updates to legislation as & when required
  • Willing and able to travel across the country to support hearings and conferences
  • Resilient there are times when working in the Court you will be working on high volumes of cases, the content of which may be sensitive in nature. You will need to demonstrate an awareness of your own wellbeing and resilience

You will report to the Court Manager and are responsible for the management of the files in the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011 List.

Part of this role will also include exercising statutory powers as a Deputy Registrar of the High Court.

You will be able to communicate confidently with the Wellington-based Judges, as well as other members of the judiciary, and team members from other Courts.

Salary Range
The appointing salary for this role will be between $63,019 and $82,295 based on skills and experience.
