Be a key contributor of development, implementation, delivery and support of an enterprise security strategy aligned to the strategic requirements of Waka Kotahi Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity The purpose of this position is to ensure that Waka Kotahi's enterprise critical information and the systems and processes that support them are secure by design.

This includes all aspects of enterprise and solution architecture ensuring that the systems supporting new and core business processes are fit for purpose.

The position will assist the Waka Kotahi's digital change in the selection, design, justification, implementation and operation of controls and management strategies to maintain the security, confidentiality, integrity, availability, accountability and relevant compliance of information systems with legislation, regulation and relevant standards.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and can demonstrate strong business acumen and have a commercial outlook.

You will have the ability to effectively interact with a broad cross-section of personnel to explain and enforce security measures.

Ko koe tēnei | About you To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in determining how a security system should work (including its resilience and dependability capabilities) and how changes in conditions, operations, or the environment will affect these outcomes.
  • At least experience in designing multilevel security/cross domain solutions.
  • Experience in the using formal engineering design methods, such as ISO1528
  • Experience in translating operational requirements into protection needs (i.e., security controls).
  • Experience in Cloud platforms.
  • Good stakeholder and relationship management skills, with demonstrable experience in working across team, organisational and functional boundaries.
  • Strong written and presentation skills.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related technical/engineering field
  • Advanced security qualifications such as SABSA (Sherwood Applied Business Security Architecture) or CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certifications.
  • Familiarity with the NZ Protective Security Requirement (PSR)
  • Familiarity with NZ Security Classification System
  • Familiarity with NZISM


You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
