We currently have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced
Team Leader to join our team in
Christchurch .

Supported by the Business Group Leader, you will manage the day-to-day operation of your team ensuring work winning, technical delivery, project, and client outcomes are achieved.


This opportunity will see you connecting with our global team of experts within a large and well-established international consultancy, giving you the opportunity to leverage your skills across a balance of technical work, project management and client relationships.


The role:

  • Daytoday oversight of an assigned team of Structural Engineers, includes responsibility for all people management related activities / tasks.
  • Structural design of buildings and/or infrastructure including inspections, assessments, and reporting.
  • Project manage, investigate, design, and implement a range of projects involving infrastructure projects, commercial building design and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Work closely with architects, project managers, building services and civil engineers in multidisciplinary teams to deliver to our clients.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to direct reports. Train, mentor and further promote their development within the business.
  • Develop strong business relationships with existing and potential clients to assist with securing new and repeat business.

About you:

  • A relevant university degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering
  • CPEng Membership of Engineering New Zealand.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand Building Code and Standards.
  • Experience utilising a broad range of skills across various types of buildings and materials within a consulting environment would be beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of the NZ Building Act and Code together with knowledge of public and private sector development requirements.
  • Able to prioritise, work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written (including technical report writing).
  • A track record of forming strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders to achieve results and secure work.
  • Technical expertise and ability to effectively coach and develop others.
  • Prior success with nurturing and developing teams.
