Key Worker - CADS Opioid Treatment

  • Part-time 0.7 FTE (28 hours per week)
  • Monday to Friday
  • Primarily based in Pt Chevalier

Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) Auckland is looking for Key Workers to work in our regional Auckland Opioid Treatment Service (AOTS). You will work in a clinic-based setting and the location can be negotiated between our Point Chevalier and Manukau sites. Working with a caseload of clients, key workers provide counselling, and medication support in a multi-disciplinary team setting and group work can be included. You will do business hours, Monday to Friday.

There is nothing traditional or ordinary about this job. Go home at the end of the day knowing you played a very important part in the recovery of service users and feel the satisfaction of doing something that counts.

CADS is the largest Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) service in New Zealand working with over 15000 people each year. CADS provides free community and inpatient AOD treatment from several locations across Auckland. CADS is committed to promoting recovery and well-being.

AOTS uses a harm reduction philosophy, supporting people towards recovery and supporting people in their communities. The treatment programme is characterised by comprehensive assessment, individual recovery planning, and a long-term treatment approach where indicated.

The role is rewarding and AOTS strongly supports professional development with a comprehensive orientation process.

Using your empathic approach, with excellent written, communication and time management skills you will carry a caseload of clients receiving medication treatment prescribed by CADS and/or primary care.

You will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team of like-minded health professionals who embrace diversity and share a commitment to working with clients in partnership to achieve their goals.

A sense of social justice and enjoying working with people in all their complexity is required. You will have a non-judgmental attitude, excellent engagement and communication skills, and an ability to work autonomously within a team. You will also have:

  • Full registration with a professional body (e.g. DAPAANZ, nursing, social work, counselling, psychology, occupational therapy)
  • Drivers licence
  • Legal right to work in NZ
  • Ability to implement Te Tiriti O Waitangi in your daily work

Ideally, the incumbent will also have:

  • Clinical experience in mental health, alcohol/drug, social work or related fields, preferably as a key worker
  • Post graduate qualification in alcohol and drug work or related fields
  • Working for a regional service in the country's largest geographic area provides more opportunities for professional development and career progression
  • 10 days of sick leave and 4 weeks of annual leave
  • Competitive salary and paid professional registration as per collective agreement
  • Regular supervision and training
