About the Role

As we continue to expand our operations across New Zealand, we are seeking to offer an exciting opportunity to a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Regulatory Manager. You have the option to choose one of the following locations to work in: Auckland, Wellington, Taranaki, Nelson, Christchurch, Greymouth or Cromwell. This is a key leadership role that will play a critical part in ensuring our business is up to date with regulatory developments.

As a Regulatory Manager, a major responsibility of your role would be to lead, develop, deliver and manage all aspects of the company's regulatory strategy, including engagement with the Electricity Authority, Commerce Commission and other regulators. You will lead and implement risk management strategies that support our organisation's performance and enable successful strategic change and business growth.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing the company's regulatory strategy to drive good regulatory outcomes for the companies and its customers
  • Manage the Company's relationships with Regulatory authorities, Electricity retailers and customers
  • Monitor electricity industry related requirements and regulations and actively communicate the company's position in relation to submission processes
  • Assist with the development and implementation of pricing strategies
  • Provide legal support and advice on property, resource management, company, dispute resolution and commercial issues
  • Support the GM Network in understanding and reporting on key risks and developing appropriate risk mitigation or management strategies as required for the network
  • Lead the creation and ongoing maintenance of risk policies and escalation processes
  • Develop, enhance and deliver company risk reporting
  • Undertake all professional development required to fulfill the Regulatory Management competencies and accountabilities

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant legal qualification, with at least 5 years' of legal experience
  • Extensive experience in managing a commercially focused team in a regulatory environment
  • Strong knowledge of the electricity industry, regulations, structure and relationships existing in New Zealand's electricity market and apply this to decision making
  • Strong commercial acumen – ability to analyse key drivers, opportunities and competitive advantages to develop tactics to benefit the company
  • Strong understanding and commitment to the goals and objectives of the commercial function and the company.
  • A strategic thinker who can identify and evaluate opportunities and support the development of the organisation's strategic direction
  • In depth knowledge, experience and leadership of best practice risk management frameworks, methodologies and emerging practice
