innovative strategies that optimise conservation goals with economic sustainability?

As an Analyst within our Strategy Investments & Pricing Team you will contribute to our mission to enhance conservation outcomes through sound economic analysis and commercial acumen.

Your mahi will be project-based and task assignment-led, partnering with stakeholders and providing analytical support in accordance with best practice analytical framework.


The position will be focussed on:

  • Gathering and researching information from various sources, comparing data across multiple data sets
  • Utilizing both qualitative and quantitative analytical approaches to synthesize large amounts of information and identify valuable insights
  • Effectively communicating analysis and insights to diverse audiences, including nontechnical stakeholders
  • Ensuring projects are well defined and appropriately scoped, and refining and improving analytical practices within the Unit
  • Providing data reporting, advice and insights to data requests and OIA's
  • Fostering collaborative relationships and partnering with whānau, hapū, and iwi, in line with Treaty of Waitangi obligations

If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:

  • Sound conceptual and analytical skills using both qualitative and quantitative data, with an understanding of data analytics
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively convey technical and nontechnical information
  • Solid relationshipbuilding skills, willingness to actively collaborate on team projects
  • Proven ability to lead projects, including planning, commissioning work, and conducting project reviews
  • Familiarity with the work of DOC, obligations to Māori under the Conservation Act, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and a commitment to working in partnership with whānau, hapū, and iwi
  • 2+ years relevant work experience in a government or private sectors
Desirable

  • A relevant University qualification (e.g. Business/Commerce or Finance/Accounting or Tourism)
  • Experience with Microsoft EXCEL, Power BI and data analytics

The Strategy, Investments and Pricing Team provides strategy, business and investment planning guidance for Heritage and Visitor-related organisational processes and management.

We are also responsible for pricing and demand management for recreational facilities and amenities and commercial advice and analysis.

We are a future-focused, data-driven team passionate about continuous improvement, with a collaborative culture where everyone is driven to make a difference.

The Biodiversity, Heritage and Visitors Group is responsible for translating strategy and policy into action for our operational branches and it's also where you'll find our technical expertise and science.

We look after 300 campsites, 900 huts, 50 cottages, cabins and lodges, 1400km of tracks,and hundreds of heritage sites.
