Ravensdown has an exciting opportunity for an experienced
Principal Environmental Consultant based in Waikato. You will be responsible for identifying growth opportunities while working hands on with farmer shareholders. We have recently adopted a hub model with this role ultimately leading three consultants as the region develops.

You will be a key part of our consultancy, enhancing the wider team's expertise and delivering quality farm environmental support and advice to many of our loyal customers and industry stakeholders.


About the role


Working primarily with farmers in Waikato region, you will build and lead a hub of rural professionals that deliver superior consulting services to our shareholders and other industry stakeholders.

Ideally, you'll be based at one of our sites across the region, but the exact location for this role is negotiable.

As a growing business unit within a large cooperative, a variety of work is on offer and the future is very bright with significant long-term career potential.

Areas of work may include some or all of the following, depending on your experience and skillset:

  • farm environmental planning and the evolution towards freshwater farm plans;
- greenhouse gas mitigations and planning;
- auditing of Farm Environment Plans;
- environmental risk assessment in an agricultural environment;
- nutrient budgets and scenario modelling in OVERSEER;

This really is a significant opportunity to drive a region and build strong relationships with our farmers, while lead the development of consultants within your hub.


About you
You'll have all the characteristics of a Principal Environmental Consultant, such as professionalism, dedication, tenacity, honesty, and integrity. You'll be motivated by the commercial realities of a consultancy business, possess management experience, and thrive on meeting deadlines.

Other ideal skills, experience, and qualifications:

  • experience in agriculture or environmental consultancy, ideally working as a people leader or technical leader;
- an undergraduate degree in a relevant science and/or business field (eg agricultural science/ land management);
- hold qualifications in nutrient management;
- training and experience in the production of Farm Environmental Management Plans;
- experience with the use of Overseer;
- experience in on-farm nutrient management across a range of farm systems.
- understanding of planning/resource consenting for agricultural sector;
