If there's one thing we know, it's that a great host is at the heart of every great stay. The voco Auckland City Centre is Auckland's newest hotel, alongside its sister property Holiday Inn Express. The Pro-invest Group managed hotel is due to open as New Zealand's first Voco in early 2022.

Up on level 38, take in the panoramic views and sip on cocktails as sophisticated as the Art Deco decor at our glamorous rooftop destination, Bar Albert. With a lineup of star mixologists and moody, sumptuous spaces both inside and out on the terrace, sky-high good times await whether you're dropping in for a pre-dinner tipple, a celebration or a work event.

Our guests are the kind of people who know exactly what they want whether they're travelling for work or pleasure. They're not expecting high-touch deferential service but appreciate the time and space to really indulge and enjoy. So, at voco hotels we find the right balance. The perfect mix of thoughtful, easy-going but attentive service, that allows our guests to get on with relaxing.

We are looking for a Bar Manager to run the operations of Bar Albert and create an environment that will delight and excite our guests. Someone passionate about Food & Beverage with exceptional knowledge of bar operations.

Some of your responsibilities include:

  • Make every effort to accommodate special requests regarding cocktails, liquor, and spirits for guests.
  • Coordinate seasonally appropriate cocktail changes to build a diverse cocktail list that is consistent with the bar/restaurant concept and standards of quality.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of: all liquor brands, beers, wine, non-alcoholic selections, all menu items, preparation time, ingredients, sauces, and portion sizes.
  • Responsible for inventory management, cost control, vendor relations, procurement of allocated spirits, and curating the cocktail list as well as non-alcoholic beverage list.
  • Provide training, support and mentoring to staff. Establish a safe and positive work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction.

About you:

  • You have minimum 5-year experience as a bar manager or equivalent role (hotel experience is preferred).
  • You are highly social, upbeat and friendly.
  • You are confident and excited about a busy high-volume, high-energy environment.
  • You can manage multiple tasks and guest with ease.
  • You are a great mixologist with a proven knowledge of spirits, well versed in both classic and contemporary cocktails, keeping up to date with the latest trends.
  • You are enthusiastic about training and developing your team.
  • Previous experience in a similar team leadership position and environment.
  • You must meet the legal requirements to work in New Zealand
  • You must work 40 hours per week and have an open availability for 7 days in a week.
