How you will add value


You will be responsible for the CAR inspections and audits on any excavation and trenching works done on the Palmerston North City Council (PNCC) roading network on a daily basis for the PNCC Road Maintenance contract.


Using clegg hammers, scalas, and NDM for measuring densities and all other relevant information from the inspections during construction, prior to surfacing and within two years of the defects liability.

All information to be recorded in pocket RAMM and working with the internal FH departments as well as external contractors, in providing them the information they need for achieving compliance with the specifications.


You will liaise with the supervisors, foreman and leading hands in efficient ways of completing work packages, working closely with internal and external contractors in providing them advise and where applicable training, in more effective and efficient ways of completing their work.

Where would you fit in?

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Proficient user of Pocket RAMM and RAMM Contractor
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in road construction and maintenance
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use repair and maintenance
  • Experience and understanding of traffic management requirements on sites
  • Understands how to clean up spills of all products being worked with
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Current licenses minimum of Class 1 and appropriate endorsements as required for role

  • Have the ability to work with others
  • Be able to work autonomously and reliably
  • Time management skills managing the programme of work and delivery
  • Attention to detail ensuring accurate documentation
  • Have ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Ensure requests are dealt with promptly and the information given is accurate
  • Understanding of financial costings
  • Recognise 'symptoms' of poor performance and able to escalate to maintenance or department manager to take disciplinary action if necessary
  • Encourage participation by crew in problem solving and hazard identification and management
