About the role

In this role of Accounting Services Team Leader, you with take on a hands-on role that blends leadership with active participation. You will be leading a team of 9, responsible for our accounts payable, accounts receivable, and rates functions. This role requires you to be involved in day-to-day activities, working alongside your team. Your leadership will not only guide the team but also involve you in executing tasks, driving process improvements, and ensuring effective and efficient financial operations across the Council.

This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Your focus in this role will include:

• Lead, develop, and manage the Accounting Services Team, set a clear vision, foster a positive working environment, and manage performance.
• Supervise accounts payable, receivable, and rates activities, implement internal controls, provide customer service, and ensure accurate outcomes.
• Ensure processes and systems are effective and efficient, providing direction for software enhancement investigations and implementations.
• Provide cover for the team's tasks where needed and upskill team members across functions for effective business continuity.
• Conduct performance reviews, recruitment, performance management, and other necessary administrative tasks.

About you

You will be an experienced finance professional with a strong background in finance and team leadership, as well as a passion for developing and mentoring staff. You have a keen eye for detail and are adept at managing financial processes and controls. Your exceptional communication skills enable you to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels, both within and outside the organisation.

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or Finance is desirable.
• Experience in leading, mentoring, and managing staff.
• Knowledge of financial processes and rates legislation is desirable.
