Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Our Regulatory Performance and Insights function provides hindsight, insight, foresight and oversight to enable the effectiveness, efficiency, resilience and fairness of the whole of the land transport regulatory system.

The Senior Advisor, Regulatory Evidence and Insights will lead work across an allocated portfolio as well as working collaboratively with others to ensure success of the team as a whole. This includes applying human centred systems thinking and service / journey mapping, ethnological techniques, and behavioural insights and change analysis models to obtain insights that will inform improvements in line with our regulatory stewardship role, alongside the collection, analysis and synthesisation of both quantitative data and qualitative information sources, the application of business intelligence techniques that bring deep insights beyond the numbers and turning insights from data and information into compelling visualisations and reports, all of which will inform improvements in line with our regulatory stewardship role.

The Senior Advisor also works with the Manager and Principals in the team to develop our ways of working, supporting others to build their capability (particularly through leadership of Communities of Practice) and being a key point of coordination for information between RPI and other groups within Waka Kotahi.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Your expertise in a relevant field, and the application of pragmatic approaches
  • Experience of human centred design approaches to identify risks, issues and strengths
  • Experience analysing both qualitative and quantitative information sources
  • Exceptional strategic advice skills, driving evidence based decision making
  • Your ability to build intentional relationships and work collaboratively with others
  • A strong track record of delivery from your previous roles
The following would also be an advantage:
  • A relevant qualification
  • Knowledge of the land transport system and/or regulation
  • Knowledge and experience of applying Te Ao Māori principles
It is expected the holder of this role will be privy to classified information from time to time and understands the New Zealand governments classification system and how to maintain information in line with current policies and requirements.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
