About the role


We have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Advisor with strong leadership skills to influence and educate our staff.

Based in Penrose, you will be responsible for supporting and assisting with the reviewing, planning and implementation of Health and Safety activities across Stevenson Group, this includes the Concrete plants, Quarries, Laboratories, Workshop and Transport.


You will proactively manage Health and Safety risk across the business unit and in conjunction with people leaders embedding health and safety into our employee day to day activities.

Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Supporting, mentoring and training staff in Health and Safety requirements
  • Oversee the investigation of incidents as determined by the H&S manager.
  • Advising on risk management and reviewing current controls for effectiveness
  • Reporting on improvement opportunities and strategies
  • Auditing and maintaining Health and Safety documented systems
  • Ensure that our strategic direction is being adhered to and company standards are being applied.
Our goal is to ensure that our 250 + staff go home safe and without harm.

What you will bring to the role:

  • A Health and Safety qualification would be advantageous
  • Experience as a health in safety advisor in a similar industry is preferable
  • Strong leadership skills to influence and lead managers.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving, analytical to enable change
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience with investigations
  • Able to work on your own, therefore reliability and honesty are essential
  • Must have a Full class 1 licence
The successful person will be provided with a company vehicle as part of the role.


In addition to your relevant skills, you will have excellent relationship management and communication skills, an uncompromising attitude towards health and safety, and the ability to engage and influence to achieve positive outcomes.

You will have keen attention to detail and have a high level of computer literacy.
