Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We are looking for a great connecter to help champion our reputation through best practice communications and engagement.

This is a great opportunity for you to flex your strong writing talent, and bring exceptional attention to detail. You'll offer advice and provide communications planning and delivery for a range of projects and programmes across the country.

The role is exciting and varied, we will look to you to bring some solid core comms skills and a great can-do attitude; if you would like to grow and develop that's even better.

We have a strong focus on mentoring and development for people who are keen to get stuck in and roll up their sleeves.

Ko koe tēnei | About you We are in search of an organised and flexible individual, with the drive to deliver.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Previous experience in communications and engagement planning and delivery at advisor level
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and experience presenting complex information clearly and simply
  • Sound knowledge of communications and engagement tools, techniques and channels
  • Other specialist communications and engagement skills i.e. event management, stakeholder or community engagement, content management
  • Proven ability to build relationships with people at all levels
  • Previous exposure to successfully working in a collaborative environment
  • Commitment to continuous learning in the engagement and communications field
  • A willingness to work closely and support colleagues within the team


You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
