Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley District of Te Whatu Ora are looking for a Plumbing System Manager to lead and coordinate teams located within Wellington, Hutt and Kenepuru hospitals.

Our Hospitals offer a dynamic working environment and a flexible approach to your base location between Hutt and Wellington.

This role will require you to coordinate and manage a variety of both internal and external contractors in the delivery of what can be complex plumbing & drainage services and systems.

Our Plumbers have the opportunity to do all aspects of plumbing work with the unique experience of working within a hospital environment.

As the Plumbing System Manager you will work closely with your team and the wider property group to ensure that where upgrades are required, you can provide a robust business case and provide SME support to the Project Team ensuring our ability to deliver and maintain your plumbing system is not compromised when we are upgrading or building new premises.

Reporting to the Head of Technical Services you will be joining a collaborative team who are providing operational leadership with the aim of improving systems, growing people and initiating and implementing best practice across all trades.

The ideal person for this role is someone who is a self-starter, has excellent communication skills that can be applied across all platforms and understands the full spectrum of plumbing services and their related systems.

You must be able to balance technical understanding against solution based thinking.
Most importantly is having the drive to manage, motivate and grow people within your team.
In addition to being suitably qualified with either a relevant trade, tertiary degree or considerable experience in this field we are seeking interest from people who:

  • Have a passion for plumbing, gas fitting and drainage and a strong desire to assist in the delivery of health care services
  • Can build relationships within the Property and facilities team as well as our wider clinical teams and subcontractors
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge and understanding of the legal compliance/regulations our team operate under including holding relevant registration
  • Can lead and develop the plumbing response by playing your part in delivery of suitable, compliant and safe systems. You will be a team player who can interrelate with other skilled professionals such as project managers, engineers and suppliers.
