Lead the Combat Vehicles Equipment Management Group for current and future armoured vehicles for Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) within the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF).

This role shapes, influences and leads the delivery of responsive, cost effective, asset management to enable the NZDF to meet its strategic and operational objectives.


A typical day may include:

  • Overseeing the management of resources for the asset management team and providing practical input into the NZDF capability life cycle phases including definition, delivery (equipment acquisition), inservice, and the disposal phase.
  • Leading development of asset management strategy and policy in support of NZDF's armoured vehicle fleets.
  • Managing contract and maintenance budgets, and vendor relationships.
  • Providing innovative and outofthebox thinking for creative asset management solutions.
  • Providing strong people management for a diverse high performing team.
  • Liaising with NZDF and industry stakeholders.

Please Note:

The formal title for this role within NZDF is Equipment Management Group Leader Combat Vehicles. This is a 3 year fixed term role.

You will have outstanding relationship management skills with an ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation and industry.

You will be an experienced leader with demonstrated people management skills to coach and develop a high functioning, diverse team, as well as a commitment to excellence, results driven, strong attention to detail and exceptional facilitation skills.


Ideally, you will also bring:

  • Experience in asset management or logistics related industry.
  • Proven experience with financial management.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Skills in operating interchangeably at both strategic and operational service delivery levels.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
Recent experience and knowledge within asset management, maintenance, engineering, and/or logistics would be an advantage.

Please note:

The successful applicant will be required to hold a current class 1 NZ Driver's license, as well as the ability to travel domestically at short notice, and overseas as required.
