The Advisor, Change and Implementation supports the planning and implementation of change across the local Integrated Service teams, working with the Team Manager Change and Implementation.

The Change and Implementation Advisor will also support the development of change and implementation capability across our region.

Mōhou ake | About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following capabilities and competencies:

  • Sound computer literacy including technical experience using Microsoft 365 apps and tools
  • Problem solving skills to creatively contribute to the building and sharing of new ideas and knowledge to support implementation of change
  • A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities to influence and guide organisational and systemlevel decision making
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including written skills
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
  • Knowledge of planning and presenting information
  • An understanding of Machinery of Government, public sector delivery structures and systems
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti of Waitangi and its implications for the work of the Ministry


You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi as it applies in the public sector.

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.

To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.

Te pūtake me te kawenga | Our purpose and role
Te Mahau | Te Tai Runga (South Takiwā) is a frontline group. Our frontline groups collectively provide leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services, such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services.

As a frontline group we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level through the Director of Education, including deep relationships with iwi and hapū.

Our Director of Education has the lead role and relationship with early learning, kōhanga, school and kura, and this means they will be across all the services we provide at a local level.
