The Trusts is seeking a talented and highly motivated Business Development Manager (Trade) to join our team.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for growing The Trusts trade market, strengthening relationships across current customer and driving results. The role focuses on expanding distribution, securing new customers and maximising the potential of The Trusts trade business.

As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for the following key tasks and responsibilities:

Sales & Account Growth

  • Identify and secure new trade accounts.
  • Grow sales volumes, ranging, and visibility within existing customer portfolios.
  • Negotiate pricing, promotional plans, and trading terms within delegated authority.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.

Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with trade customers, venue managers, distributors, and key trade partners.
  • Conduct regular visits to customer sites to understand needs and drive performance.
  • Provide category insights and product recommendations to optimise ranging and sales.

Trade Sales Management

  • Manage all related admin, sales processes, quotes, orders & follow-ups
  • Efficiently manage call cycles and business development leads
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends & technologies

Market Insights & Competitor Analysis

  • Monitor trade liquor market trends, competitor pricing, and promotional activity.
  • Identify opportunities for new product launches, improved distribution, and category gaps.

Planning & Reporting

  • Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports, forecasts, and activity plans.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and account plans.
  • Contribute to annual business plans and channel strategies

About You:

  • Proven strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding of the NZ liquor trade, including on-/off-licence environments.
  • Commercial acumen and ability to analyse category data.
  • Organised and adaptable mindset, with solid problem-solving skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and comfortable working independently.
  • Proven experience in liquor, FMCG, beverage, or hospitality sales.
  • Existing relationships within the liquor trade (advantage).
  • Understanding of industry regulations and responsible service practices.
  • Full NZ driver licence.

Tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, or similar (preferred but not essential).
