About the Role - Mō te Tūranga Mahi

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, you'll provide legal support and advice across the organisation on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters. You'll help ensure our legal compliance, manage contractual and regulatory risk, and support sound business decision-making through timely, practical, and solutions-focused advice.

In this role, you will:

  • Draft, review and support the negotiation of a broad range of contracts and legal documents
  • Maintain and improve UniMed's legal and contract management framework
  • Provide clear, pragmatic guidance to business leaders across marketing, operations, IT and more
  • Support policy and governance initiatives that strengthen UniMed's approach to legal and regulatory compliance

This is a hands-on role with scope to improve systems and processes and help shape how we work — ideal for someone who enjoys both detail and influence.

About You - Mōu

You'll be a qualified lawyer with around 2–3 years' post-qualification experience, ideally with exposure to commercial, contracts, or corporate law in either a private practice or in-house setting. Experience in the insurance, financial services or health sectors will be an advantage, as will a current practising certificate.

You'll bring:

  • Strong legal judgment and the ability to translate complexity into clear, practical advice
  • Excellent drafting and attention to detail
  • A collaborative, approachable style that builds trust across the business
  • Great organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
