Women's Refuge, National Collective of Independent Women's Refuge Incorporated (Women's Refuge NZ) is New Zealand's only national provider working to protect women and children from domestic violence. Our national office provides a wide range of advocacy, advisory, training, fundraising and support services to member refuges, Government, agencies and our many business partners.

An opportunity has arisen for an accountant position to be filled within our existing finance team.  Someone who enjoys strong team participation, and gains satisfaction from work done well would be a good fit for this team. Experience working for a not-for-profit organisation would be an advantage but not essential.  If you are an Accountant with at least two years' experience we would like to hear from you

About the Role

The Accountant will work alongside members of the Finance team and reports to the Finance Manager. The role supports the Finance Manager and the finance team especially during peak times and during audits. The purpose of the role is to ensure financial functions are underpinned by sound practice. All processes are sound and meet both financial accounting standards and audit requirements. In the execution of day-to-day activities the Accountant ensures the integrity of the business is maintained through input into financial accounts, completion of reconciliations and management of supporting documentation which meets organizational accountability and audit requirements.

Excellent attention to detail and high level accuracy are critical competencies and the ability to maintain confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
